Why Marine arbitration over litigation?

While maritime arbitration draws its origin from international commercial arbitration, it differs from the general model in numerous ways, making it "special" from a legal perspective. Almost all international shipping operators nowadays use arbitration to resolve disputes of all kinds. Therefore, arbitration clauses are included in many international shipping contracts. Compared to litigation, it offers a number of impressive advantages, such as flexibility, specialization, and confidentiality. Due to its structural characteristics, it allows parties to avoid the undesirable effects of litigation.
